When the Vincentians were pondering on the idea of starting a Retreat Centre in the UK, Most Rev.Peter Smith welcomed us with open arms and has been our spiritual guide and support ever since. On 16th March 2014, over 1500 people gathered to mark the inauguration of the Divine Retreat Centre. The Retreat Centre was inaugurated by Most Rev.Peter Smith, Archbishop of Southwark, in the presence of Rt. Rev. Mgr. John Armitage, then Vicar General, Diocese of Brentwood and Very Rev. The Words of our beloved Archbishop still inspires and motives us; ‘A door which has been closed to the public for many years was re-opened to re evangelise the UK as well as the whole Europe’.
