A question that is often posed and discussed is, “Who came first – the chicken or the egg; the tree or the seed?” This question has only one answer: God created everything out of nothingness. All of us have been created by God as also the birds, animals and nature. Though animals and human beings have some things in common, yet, man is different from all creation. We are different because we are created in the image and likeness of God (Gen 1: 27).
By God, for God
Why did God create Human beings? God has a very special intention for us. Every creation has a purpose behind its existence just as man. But man’s existence is part of a higher plan of God. God’s purpose in creating man is stated in Is 43: 21, “The people whom I have formed for myself so that they might declare my praise”. This does not mean that God is hungering for our praise and worship. The beauty of this statement is that God created the whole world for mankind and created mankind for God. In short, we are created by God and for God. Many fail to understand this truth and believe that they are created for their parents, spouse, or children. So when we live for others God’s purpose or plan for us remains unfulfilled. Moreover, when we are attached to a person rather than to God, we find that that very person abandons us, rejects us or becomes the cause of our downfall.
There are also people who live for fame, for educational achievements, for money or other material things. Such people will find that these attachments will bring about the opposite effect. Those who live for fame will never be acknowledged for their achievements; those who live for money will never have enough and even experience poverty; those who live for love will never find real love, rather they will be attracted to everyone they meet and get into wrong relationships; those are living for the future will find themselves attacked frequently by sickness and those who live for their spouse/children will be abandoned by the same people.
Death is a truth all have to face
All of us are going to die. This is a universal truth, but do we know when or how we will die? Did the people in World Trade Centre know that an unpredictable, unprecedented accident would befall them? In seconds, the enviable tower was razed to the ground. What happened to all their dreams?
This is why we say that nothing is true or constant. Science, by which the world and all our lives are governed, is also a lie. What was told to us and accepted some decades ago as the ‘truth’ is a ‘lie’ today. The earliest scientist said that the earth was flat. Later, Galileo said it was round and now it is stated to be an ‘oblate spheroid’. The so-called ‘truth’ of science is proving itself to be a lie over and over again. We learnt at school that an atom is the smallest particle and Tuberculosis, a fatal disease. But a quarter century later, we hear that there is a particle smaller than the atom and Tuberculosis not an incurable disease. Fifty years hence, all that we believe today as true will be proved wrong once again. We are living in a world of lies.
The Word of God is a constant truth
Scripture, or the Word of God has never changed and has never been proved wrong. It has been translated into many languages and has remained a bestseller over the centuries. Fresh editions have come, but the Word still remains the same. It has remained so because, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Heb.13:8). Jesus also said, “Heaven and earth will change but my word will never change”. And, therefore, I suggest very emphatically, before you study the lies of the world (engineering, medicine, management etc.) study the Word of God. It will give you direction and God’s plan will be revealed to you and you will find success in everything you do.
Power in the Word of God
The Word of God never fails. Why not try using it in your day -to- day life? By repeating any Word of God with faith in the morning, afternoon and evening, and as many times as possible, you are empowering yourself. Repeat Phil 4:13, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me”, for several days faithfully, and you will find a new self-confidence. You will be able to make the right decisions and choices and get a clear picture of what you have to do to succeed at home, at work or in your business. Similarly, those who have financial problems should repeat Phil 4:19, “And my God will satisfy every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus”, and I challenge that no one who does this will ever be disappointed.
