When the body of Venerable Carlo Acutis was exposed ahead of his beatification on the 10th October, it was a pleasant surprise to see a Holy person in sneakers and jeans. Venerable Carlo Acutis had a special love for God from a young age. He received communion as regularly as he could and he made Holy Hours before or after Mass. An avid gamer and programmer he built a site that catalogued all the eucharistic miracles all across the world.

His site, miracolieucaristici.org reads, “the more often we receive the Eucharist, the more we will become like Jesus, so that on this earth we will have a foretaste of heaven.” Such was the love of this youth for the eucharist he would ask his parents to take him to pilgrimages to places of saints and eucharistic miracles.

He constantly defended the weaker children in his school and instilled a sense of devotion in his family and friends for God. When he was diagnosed with Leukaemia, He was mindful of his suffering and offered it for Pope Benedict XVI and the church. May Venerable Carlo Acutis inspire us all, especially the youth to live holy lives, even in our sneakers and jeans!
