A lady once came and told me, “Father, you pray over my son. He has a spirit of lies. I think he needs exorcism.“ I asked this mother why? Then she said, “Father whenever my boy opens the mouth only lies will come out one after the other, lies after lies. I don’t know how to change my son. I think the demon of lies has entered inside him. You cast him out so that my son may be released.” Then I asked his mother, “Okay, before I pray for your son, let me ask you, do you lie?” She said,” I lie small lies, very few times, but not as my son.” I told this mother, “a small liar will give birth to a big liar because the first conversion should take place in you. When the mother changes, the son will change because you are connected.“

I’ve also heard this testimony from a lay person. A boy started to cry because he had pain in the ear. They took this boy to the hospital. They completed all checks. They took an X-ray. The doctors could not find what is the problem with the boy who was four years old. The small boy was crying day and night. They tried everything. They tried medicines. They tried doctors but the child was constantly in pain and crying. The mother started to pray but the father never prayed. His philosophy was that, “What is the use of praying? I need money. If I go to church, will priest give money? We need to pay house rent. We have to pay school fees. We have lot of things to do and without money, things cannot move.”

So he always abuses his wife saying, “What is the use? You don’t work, you don’t do anything. You are only praying. I am the only one, the bread winner making money, working hard. You learn from me now.” The wife told him, “It is true you work hard you get money but remember your money cannot heal our son. Our son is crying. There are so many things that money cannot solve, money cannot give wealth, money cannot give health, money cannot give peace. You cannot go to the supermarket and buy one basket full of peace. You cannot get it. It comes from God. There are many things actually we are incapable. We are only capable of committing sin. With our own power we can commit sin. We need grace. It’s by grace we enter the door to God. It’s grace and nothing else.

So the wife told this man, the husband, “You cannot help your son. Me, as a mother, my heart is breaking as my son is crying night and day and doctors cannot help, medicines cannot help. My son is crying and all your efforts have failed. We are exhausted. Can you kindly try to go and attend a retreat and pray and ask the Lord, the Maker of our son?” This man came to know he cannot help finally because he witnessed the pain and the agony of the son. He decided to go and attend a retreat. During his time at the retreat, he came to realize that it was twenty years since he made his last confession. The time he was getting married he had confessed because the priest insisted, “You cannot get married unless you make a good confession.” He said since then he never ever made a confession and as the preaching was going on, the Holy Spirit convicted him about the sins he committed and he made a confession in the retreat centre. 

As this lay preacher was reaching back in the home, a black small thing fell from the ear of his son and he stopped crying. When he came back home, he was shocked to see the son was healed. The mother brought him the small black thing. It was a grain of rice. It stayed in his ear and they didn’t know how it went. But it just fell down the X-ray because it had the colour of the skin. Nobody could easily find but when his father confessed, his son got healed. This is what the lay preacher was preaching, “Is your son crying, is your daughter’s marriage blocked, is there a problem, is it a mysterious sickness because you as a father, you as a mother are hiding sins.

Proverbs 28:13 – No one who conceals transgressions will prosper, but one who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.

Is our prosperity blocked, is our blessings blocked? The reason is sin. 

The moment we confess; we are opening the door of grace.
