The Most Reverend John Wilson was appointed the Archbishop of Southwark on 10th June 2019 and was installed on 25th July 2019 and succeeds Archbishop Peter Smith. He had previously served as an Auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Westminster (2016–2019). Bishop Wilson was born in Sheffield in 1968. He studied at the University of Leeds before beginning his priestly formation at the Venerable English College in Rome. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1995 by Bishop David Konstant.
